Trading Rules and Guidelines
Free Registration
Registration is absolutely FREE (only applicable during contest dates, TBA).
First 1000 Entries will be accepted
To enter the competition, individuals must go online to www.allianceinvestment.com or www.alliancetrader.com then click on the “Stock Wizard Challenge” icon. From that page individuals will click on the “Registration” link. In order to register, individuals must accurately complete all the fields on the registration page. Each individual should only register once. Multiple registrations coupled with trading may result in disqualification. How it works
Each person is given $25,000 USD in virtual funds to trade with at the start of the competition. Each client is allowed 4:1 intraday trading and 2:1 margin for overnight positions. Over the course of the month each competitor’s daily balance will reflect profit & loss from the previous day. At the end of the month the person with the highest portfolio balance will be the 1st place winner of the top prize.
An updated listing of the standings will be posted daily by 10:30 am EST.
Trading times
Trading will be allowed once the market is open, whether it is regular market hours ( 9:30am – 4:00 pm EST), pre- market(8:00 am – 9:30am EST) or the after-market (4:00 pm – 6:30 pm EST).
Inactive Accounts
Accounts which reflect no trading up to 5 days after the competition begins will be closed.
Tradeable Securities
This is an Equities trading competition, so only equities will be allowed to be traded. Futures, Options , E-minis etc will not be permitted.
You may buy, sell, sell short and cover almost all NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX stocks (common and preferred ).
Volume and Purchase Restriction
- The maximum number of shares an individual may trade is limited to the actual volume of the stock that day
- Individuals may not hold short and long positions in the same stock at the same time
Commission
A Brokerage commission of $10.95 is applied to all transactions. Commission will be charged to both opening and closing transactions.
Interest Charged
Interest will be charged on all loan balances and will be debited at the close of the each day. The rate of 10% per annum will be charged on all loan (margin) balances.
Competition Eligibility
Individuals wishing to be eligible to be declared winners must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum age requirement of 18 Years old
- Must have an email address
- Possess a valid photo ID
- Staff and immediate family members of Alliance Investment Management will not be eligible for prizes
- Finalists who are awarded a prize in the competition are not eligible to compete in the following staging of the Stock Wizard Challenge.
Prizes
The individual with highest portfolio value at the end of competition will receive an Alliance Investment Management Limited Online Trading account valued at $1,000.00 USD. The individuals with the second, third and fourth highest portfolio values will both receive an Alliance Investment Management Limited Online Trading account valued at $500.00 USD.
Prizes may be claimed up to 30 days after the official announcement of the winners of the competition. If after 30 days a prize is not claimed then the prize cannot be awarded as it has become null and void.
